Ray Hunter was born Ivan Ray Hunter, November 6th 1939, to Ernest Hunter and Edna Hunter in Carbon County, Utah. He lived with his brothers Tom, Dan, Bud and his sister Ladeen in Ferron Utah. His mother passed away 18 months later, and his father struggled to raise 5 kids. At the age of 4 he and his brother “Bud” went to live in Price Utah with Clifford and Mae Albrechtsen. Eventually he was adopted, and his name would change to Ray Hunter Albrechtsen.
Ray would live on a farm in Price until he joined the Air Force where he was an MP. He was medically discharged, and would move back to Price where he owned his own gas station at the age of 18. He married young, and had three kids: Lori, Melody and Brian with his first wife Cae. He would get remarried to Linda Reynolds and they would have a son Bart. During this time he had two mentors, his older Brother Dan Hunter and an old prospector/geologist named Glenn Ruby. He would form Western Prosectors with his brother and eventually formed a publicly traded company, Mountain States Resources where he was the CEO. He had prospecting adventures all across Utah, Texas and California where he had leases in coal, oil, gas and uranium. But his best adventures were with his nephew Boyd Marshall in Sinbad Utah, a place Ray loved with all his being.
The oil and gas industry changed in the late 80's and by 1990 he had left Mountain States Resources to form a video production company called Creative Vision. He became an award winning producer of experiential videos like: Gemstones of America, Collecting Earths Natural Treasures, and Experience the West. He worked on Gem Stones of America with many great people who become his friends. The video was produced in conjunction with The Smithsonian Institution.
Eventually he would remarry, to Julie Fiducia. They would make Southern Utah their home with her daughter Camille. They lived both in Hurricane and Washington. Ray loved southern Utah because it was so full of beauty, and vibrant energy. He moved to Southern Utah largely because he was drawn to a gold prospect called Goldstrike near the Utah Nevada border. He would dedicate the last 25 years of his life to the development of this project.
Anyone who got to meet Ray knew him as the deepest thinker they had ever met. He was an artist, philosopher and poet. He taught those closest to him not to be afraid to think beyond the physical universe. He studied geology, astronomy, geometry and quantum physics to gain insight into the universal consciousness of the great unknown, Tao, or Prana.
In his later years he had help from incredible people, Dr Jeff Mathews, and his friend and guardian angel Kristina Whited. He is survived by his daughters Lori and Melody and his son Bart, his wife Carolina and their two children Gael and Gareth, and his other grandchildren, CJ, Trevor, Max, Garrett, Gavin & Kasey and four great grandchildren Brantley, Bella, Maeve and Emma.
