Jan. 3, 1967 - Nov. 28th, 2024
Kerry Lee Fewell, age 57, passed away unexpectedly in the St. George Hospital on November 28th 2024, surrounded by family and loved ones. She was born on January 3rd, 1967 in Provo, Utah to Margaret Thayn and Gregory Thayn. Kerry met her husband, Jeffrey Fewell while they were both studying at Utah State University. They were married on Sept. 3rd, 1988, in SLC, Utah at the Red Butte Botanical Gardens. Kerry attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah where she received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Speech Language Pathology. Kerry continued her education throughout her professional career as a Speech Language Pathologist. Most recently, she was Nationally Certified in Apraxia, of which she was the only one to have this certification in Southern Utah. Kerry was enthusiastic about education and even wanted to go back to school and earn her Ph-D. Kerry will always be remembered as the most caring and kind person anybody could meet. She loved anyone and everyone unconditionally. She had a passion for helping people, whether that was through her work with children who have Autism, Apraxia, and other conditions; or by helping her children, and other young adults find clarity and direction in their lives. She loved being a mother. So much that she “adopted” several young teens into her family who needed guidance or somewhere to feel safe. She always protected and supported them however she could. Kerry helped all her kids and pushed them to be the best version of themselves they could be. Kerry loved fiercely. Throughout her life Kerry maintained a level of optimism and joy that not many have. She was fun loving, happy and had a positive energy that was captivating to those around her. She was always able to find a bright side to even the most difficult of situations and was unbothered by the negativity of the world around her. Kerry was strong in her values, and everything she did was done with honesty and integrity. She was patient but persistent with the parts of life that truly matter. She was a role model for so many and will continue to be someone that others look up to. Kerry had a deep concern for others and their struggles. She was always there to lend a helping hand and do whatever she could to make someone’s day just a little bit brighter, whether that be through something small or big.
Even at the end of her life she wanted to make a difference by donating her organs to save the lives of others. She spoke about this often and always said that this was the most meaningful thing she could do. Her love for her family, friends, co-workers and all people was real and profound. Kerry is preceded in death by her father Gregory Thayn and her brother Kyle Thayn. Kerry is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Fewell, daughters Rachel Fewell and Hailey Fewell, her mother Margaret Miklas, stepfather David Miklas, and stepmother Jeanine Thayn. Kerry also leaves many other beloved family members, friends, and loved ones. She will be missed so dearly by all who knew her.
