Jerry Abramson, age 82, passed away on August 27, 2024 at St. George Regional Hospital due to natural causes. He was born on March 24, 1942 to Esther Marcus and Philip Abramson in Brooklyn, New York.

Jerry Abramson was a man of many talents and interests: a drummer and pianist; a computer programmer before, during, and after the introduction of personal technology; enjoyed making predictions on horse racing and the stock market; and was a great dog-lover. He was also fiercely independent, and over the years preferred solitude to companionship. The friendships in which Jerry invested were long-standing and dear to him. Jerry grew up in Brooklyn, New York, in the years following World War II, and entered The Ohio State University at 16 years old after having skipped two earlier grades. Jerry was drafted into the US Army in 1963, and received an honorable discharge in 1969. He married his college sweetheart Bobbi Robin in 1965 while still in the army, and eventually settled in Connecticut. They had a son, Daniel Philip Renstrom in 1970, and divorced in 1972. Jerry lived briefly in Amsterdam, where he worked as a jazz pianist, before returning to the United States and moving to southern California. He married Faye Podzaline in 1980, and divorced in 1995. He worked for a prominent insurance company, several banks, and mortgage companies over a 40+ year career, retiring in the early 2000’s. Jerry spent the last couple decades of his life in retirement in St. George Utah where he continued to hone his musical talents, visited with his neighbors, and spent much time with several beloved canine friends. He is survived by his son, Daniel, and his brothers Grant and David Abramson. Preceded in death by his mother Esther Marcus and father Philip Abramson. A memorial will be held in the spring of 2025 and ashes interred in the Wellwood Cemetery Strunsky family plot on Long Island, New York.
