Jerri Kaye Gordon

November 16, 1948 — September 30, 2024

St. George

Jerri Kaye Gordon of St. George, Utah came into this world in November of 1948 in Tooele, Utah. She passed to the other side in the afternoon of September 30, 2024, after a long bout with many complications from an automobile accident in 2017.

Jerri was blessed with great talent as a singer/song writer, artist, poet, and a large heart for all who knew her. A lover of learning new things she graduated Tooele High School and went on to study at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah and BYU in Provo, Utah, where she received a Batchelor Degree in Family Sciences and also studied at the Brigham Young University Museum of Art. She served the Lord as a missionary in California and was a great asset. She was even asked to stay longer. Using her skills of writing her own music in singing and playing the guitar she made many new friends and was able to accomplish much in helping people come into the gospel and teaching the younger missionaries.

When she returned, she worked as an executive assistant for LDS Welfare Services and the Dean of Honors at BYU. She also worked as former Assistant to the Area Director, Utah South Area at LDS Welfare Services and LDS Social Services in Oregon. She had a great love for her family and many times wrote special letters to those that were having problems in their families. We will miss her smiling face and upbeat personality. She brought much happiness to all who knew her. We are especially indebted to all who cared for her among those of late who are Sherry Harward, and Rinda and Rolland Hunter who were angels to Jerri in her last year.

Jerri is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer McLaws Gordon and Ada Lucile Downs Gordon, her siblings, Douglas Downs Gordon and Gloria Gordon Paakanen, nephews Michael Lorne Paakanen and Sean Gordon Paakanen. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Colleen Wilson Gordon of New Harmony, Utah and many nephews, nieces, grand nephews and grand nieces. We will miss you Jerri but look forward to seeing you again in a better place.
