Frank Henry Robles was born September 11th, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Maria Diaz Varela and Frank Robles. He had two half-brothers, two half-sisters, and a younger sister. Frank lived with his family and worked in a pharmacy as a delivery boy for a few years until graduating from high school. He attended college for 1 year. Then, to qualify for the GI Bill, he enlisted in the U.S. Army - at 17 yrs. old (with his mother’s authority) and served as an Army Lance Staff Sargent during World War 2.
After leaving the Army, Frank graduated from college, married Georgie Ruth Felsted, and became a Pharmaceutical Rep for Burroughs Welcome, now GlaxoSmithKlein. He was a proud co-founder of Camp Utada - a camp for diabetic kids, where he volunteered for 30 years of his life. Frank loved to support his son Rob’s athletic events. He also became a father-figure to his nephews Chris and Steve and included them when they hit the slopes and did many other activities. Carrie and Rick were equally involved in his athletic interests when they got older.
In 1986, Frank married Shirley Foster Carroll. Frank enjoyed traveling with Shirley across the country going to Winnabego rallies where he served as a tour guide with Shirley. He loved spending time with family, and cherished the 39+ years he spent with his dear Shirley. Frank was so happy to have his family near him and would got out of his way to make sure his family had the best time when visiting. He really loved Christmas. He could barely contain his excitement and was always first in line to open presents.
Frank was an avid snow skier, history buff, photographer, dancer, and was very loving and supportive of everyone that he held dear. He constantly expressed gratitude and love for his wife, kids, grandkids, great grandchildren, and friends. He was often more concerned for others rather than focusing on his own challenges. Frank had an amazing sense of humor and was always astoundingly lucky when playing card games.
Once he found Shirley, Frank relished getting additional children to love him and whom he could love. He was especially happy to share his love with all of his grandkids and great grandchildren. Frank was constantly dedicated to successfully managing his diabetes throughout his life and was a healthy insulin-dependent diabetic for sixty-eight years. However, other health challenges made his later years more difficult. Surrounded by family, Frank left his sweetheart on 14 February 2025 due to complications following a heart attack.
Frank was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Diaz Robles and father, Frank Robles, and all of his siblings. Frank is survived by his wife, Shirley Carroll Robles, son, Frank “Rob” (and Jeane) Robles, daughter Carrie (and Rick) Konczak, Ricardo “Rick” (and Toby) Robles, step kids Michael (and Coralee) Carroll, Douglas (and Andrea) Carroll, Stephen (and Jeannie) Carroll, Lynda (and Ted) Boyers, Barbara (and James) Ostlund; and grandkids: Casey Robles, Kristi Robles, Randi (and Nathan) Blackham, Marti Bove, Griff (and Kylie) Robles, Jordan Robles, Michael (and Ashley) Carroll, Annie (and Peter) Taylor, Jaime, (and Mac) Brady, Joseph (and Shanna) Carroll, D.J.
